In this episode of Canadian Cannabis, Damian visits two gigantic weed factories in Ontario to check out what kind of bud the government has legally authorized. He also chats with pot activists throughout British Columbia to get their take on the new licensed producer system. And, lastly, we visited a private pot grower who has a medical grow license, but is being squeezed out by Canada’s new medical marijuana program: the MMPR.

I’m a 34 year old mother of two boys and I want the best to ensure their
safety for their future. I don’t want my kids smoking pot, and I certainly
don’t want them trying alcohol. The dangerous black market has to GO, and
we need to take away prohibition to keep drug smugglers away from our kids.
Realistically, marijuana hasn’t killed anyone. Not a single person.
    LEGALIZE IT ASAP!

I’d like to point out that this “new weed” theory is just ridiculous. It is
pretty egotistical to think that the indoor growing that began in the 50’s
is better or more refined than what countries in the eastern hemisphere
have been doing for thousands of years. The one thing that is true is that
before indoor growing IN THE U.S., all weed was basically dead (if it is
brown) or had a little bit of premature bud left in there with some thc.
Now don’t get me wrong, in the past decade or so we have gotten very good
at it and the breeding of certain strains and growing techniques has pushed
the envelope to where we now have plants with 25% thc, but it is not some
new plant. In older times, people would smash all the buds to get very high
quality hash. High thc has been around for a LONG time, but because of
medical laws in california and other states, we have started to perfect it
even more. One last point: people always tell me that because weed is
stronger today that it is more dangerous. I would argue the opposite.
Instead of smoking 3 joints of dead weed with maybe 3% thc in it and
countless molds or mites, you can take one hit of the cleanest weed and
most pure cannabinoid structures and instead of getting a headache and
falling asleep you become creative and relaxed.

If you smoke weed, meditate on the high. Meditate for a few minutes after
every hit. Depending on your tolerance, it could take between 2-6 hits. The
simple goal is to become the high. If you don’t have an incredible and
profound experience, try it again next time your sober and smoke again. I
learned you can get natural highs from meditation. Maybe anandamide is
    involved in that process.

“Along with a slew of other traditionally conservative states, Mississippi
gained a new law this year allowing for the limited use of medical
marijuana. This law would provide an affirmative defense to individuals
suffering from debilitating seizure disorders for the use and possession of
high-CBD, low-THC cannabis extracts. While this measure only protects a
tiny number of the patients who could benefit from medical marijuana, it is
a step in the right direction. For more information about this new law,
    check out our summary here.

Since 1968, Ole Miss has been the sole producer of federally legal
marijuana in the United States. Yet university researchers can expect the
same slow, multi-year approval process that has prevented trials from going
forward for decades. Even those trials that manage to be approved tend to
be small-scale and short-term. Please thank your legislators for this first
important step, and ask them to support a comprehensive medical marijuana
    program next year.

Each month, under the government’s Compassionate Investigational New Drug
program, federal authorities send four patients a tin canister filled with
about 300 pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, filled with marijuana grown at
Ole Miss. If the federal government can grow medical marijuana for
out-of-state patients in Mississippi, why can’t Mississippi’s seriously ill
patients access the medicine they need?”

is…if its legal here then the other southern states will fall in line!

i am not for cannabis legalization but this thing is at a point that now i
think “you know what? fuck this shit lets legalize it, tax it, and save and
make some money out of it that we can use for some useful things…. if
people want to this shit is their problem”

Want to kill the cartels? Legalize all drugs. No exception. Regulate and
tax it. Take the money you earn and save from prohibition and open up
several state of the art drug treatment centers in every city. Furthermore,
use money to run campaigns showing the dangers of drug use. This approach
is certainly cheaper than our current approach. Less police, prisoners, and
    drug addicts.

All drugs should be legal. There will always be demand for drugs, so there
will always be supply. Trying to restrict the supply to end-users is not
only wasteful, but ruins lives with harsh punishments which are just as
dangerous as the drugs they are trying to restrict. No matter what you
think about drugs, people will keep doing them, and you will keep wasting
your money trying to stop it. In the process, millions of people will get
    locked in cages.

Omg that guy at the end was growing some ugly looking stressed out plants
that even had mold @19:10. He doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing and
selling moldy weed. That’s so wrong. What a fucking disgrace. You should
have the right to grow your own medicine but to grow moldy weed for others
is wrong. That clown should be shut down till he takes some growing
    lessons.

I’m thinking of using cannabis to help with my anxiety caused by autism.
Any idea on how to tell my parents that I want to try that? It would annoy
me that I’ll have to hide that I smoke if I didn’t tell them.

Health canada recently got rejected by the supreme court to stop the
grandfathered in growers through the injunction. Therefore when the final
court session happens to repeal the mmpr its almost a guarantee we will
win. Health canadas conservative bias isnt fooling anyone.

It’s all about TAXES…that’s nothing new. Would you think a government has
the people’s best interests at heart, or is it all about the taxes? The
    answer is obvious

Pshh I’m moving to Canada. America is ignorant as fuck. We can prescribe
methadone to heroin addicts and have a pill for every problem, but when it
comes to natural remedies and not just marijuana we see no use for what the
planet gives us for resources. Herbal healing could benefit in so many ways
but as long as the government can profit off of pills why not right?!?!

I think alot of the debate regarding the current marijuana laws in Canada
show focus on exactly why it was made illegal in the first place. Many
people are put off by the fact that it is currently illegal and assume
that, since it is such, there must be a significant historical precedent or
at least a very good reason to thus necessitate it. In fact, there was no
debate or discussion surrounding the criminalization of marijuana in the
1920’s but rather it was added quite abruptly at the end of a very lengthy
debate surrounding the restriction of opium and its derivatives.

Fun fact, the same parliament which made cannabis illegal also passed the
Chinese exclusion act wherein it constantly referred to Chinese people as
“Chinamen”…truly it was an enlightened day and age. If you would like to
check the records for yourself there is an exhaustive, yet remarkable,
record of the Canadian parliamentary discussions from the years 1920-1923
    available online.
