WeedLifes All-Things-Cannabis News Site Launches an Exclusive Three-Part Look at the State of the Legal Marijuana Industry

posted in: Cannabis 0

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) February 24, 2015

Will 2015 be remembered as the year the legal cannabis industry made its breakthrough with mainstream investors and business people? Or will this year just be a footnote; a breathing space ahead of the landmark marijuana legislation that many observers expect to be introduced by at least five states in 2016?

Those are just some of the issues being considered in an exclusive, three-part weekly news series on The State of the Cannabis Industry — being launched this week on Weedworthy.com, the all-things-marijuana news site that’s part of the WeedLife Social Network Marketplace.

Throughout the series, industry experts weigh in on a variety of issues – including the wildly different ways some states implement and enforce their legal cannabis laws, and whether the current political and cultural landscape is a help or hindrance for the legal marijuana movement.

They also examine the recent entrance of venture capital and the latest crop of institutional investors who are coming to Colorado and elsewhere, looking at the legal cannabis sector’s financial potential.

Troy Dayton, CEO and co-founder of The ArcView Group – which recently released the third edition of its State of the Legal Marijuana Markets report – tells WeedWorthy that one of the challenges facing the cannabis industry is how to best “marry the best ideals of activism with the best ideals of business.”

Another industry observer interviewed for the WeedWorthy articles notes that while there’s a lot of investment money flooding into the industry, not all of it is from high-rollers.

“At the lower levels there are plenty of people seeking investments in places like Washington State, where people are dying for investments, trying to get their retail pot shops open,” says Seattle-based Bruce Barcott, author of Weed the People, The Future of Legal Marijuana in America, which is scheduled for publication by Time Books in April.

Barcott also notes that ancillary companies, such as insurance and security groups, are looking to cash in on the new and rapidly-growing “green rush” created by the legal cannabis industry.

About Weedlife

The WeedLife Social Network Marketplace is a series of free-to-use websites specifically designed for the marijuana industry and its consumers – bringing news, sales information and other important cannabis-related data together, all under one online roof. WeedLife’s network of web site apps creates an online social marketplace of ideas, products and connections that work with both cannabis producers, distributors and dispensaries, as well as the tens of thousands of ancillary companies supporting the industry.

WeedLife also allows cannabis consumers and businesses to communicate and learn more about each other in a more rapid timeframe — helping them to better target their products, services and customer needs — as the cannabis sector’s consumer demographic changes, evolves and matures.

Hemp (from Old English hænep) is the common name for plants of the entire family of Cannabis, although the term is often used to refer only to Cannabis strains cultivated for industrial non-drug use.

Hemp seeds are highly nutritious and contain beneficial omega fatty acids, amino acids, and minerals. The seeds can be eaten raw, ground into a meal, sprouted, made into "milk", prepared as tea, and used in baking

Odd fact: In 1916, USDA Bulletin No. 404, reported that one acre of cannabis hemp, in annual rotation over a 20-year period, would produce as much pulp for paper as 4.1 acres of trees being cut down over the same 20-year period.

Open Table for Cannabis App – Whaxy Launches

posted in: Cannabis 0

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) February 24, 2015

Denver, Colorado based technology startup CannaBuild has announced the launch of their order reservation platform Whaxy. Available in the AppStore and mobile web, Whaxy allows users to browse for cannabis products at local dispensaries and reserve them for pickup at their desired time.

“Buying legal cannabis has become a regular thing to do for millions of people,” stated CannaBuild CEO and CoFounder Zach Marburger. “We’re excited to turn this process into more of an experience that fits with people’s daily routines.”

As cannabis legalization measures continue to sweep the nation, more and more consumers are looking for easy and reliable methods to attain legal cannabis. Users of Whaxy are able to easily identify what strains and cannabis infused products are right for them through a number of different filters including flavors, effects, and medical conditions.

The technology that powers the Whaxy app is what CannaBuild considers it’s core product offering. “We built Whaxy as a proof of concept for the ordering capabilities in our API,” Marburger said.

“You can already see a rush of cannabis related apps entering the market place. Many of these apps have the desire to access real time inventory in some form or fashion, but integrating and maintaining a connection with multiple POS systems is extremely difficult. Our goal is to be the hub in between these two worlds, allowing any developer to easily build and deploy applications.”

Currently in private beta, the Whaxy API is fully integrated with one POS system with others in process. However, using Whaxy or the ordering functions do not require a POS system connection.

“Giving our customers the ability to browse and shop on their own time is essential with today’s modern cannabis consumer,” said Ean Seeb, Owner of Denver Relief, Chairman of the NCIA, and CannaBuild advisory board member.

Along with Seeb, CannaBuild’s advisory board includes Silicon Valley veteran and co-inventor of Blu Ray technology Carter Laren and Partner of Scale Finance, Gerhard Renner.

“We’re extremely excited to have an advisory board with as much expertise as they do,” Marburger stated. “Their abilities to help us navigate uncharted territories is crucial in developing a product that provides real value to cannabis businesses.”

Seed funded in June of 2014 through investors from the ArcView Group, CannaBuild is one of the fastest growing start ups in the cannabis tech space.

Businesses interested in enhancing their online ordering and visibility with Whaxy, please visit Whaxy.com.
