The New Farming Culture

posted in: Hemp Farming 0

Agriculture is the main source of income for various economies. With increasing technology, farming and its methods have developed and the options of farming have increased. People are opting for animal husbandry, fruit farming, organic farming and so much more. Food is our necessity and the farmers are using new technologies to increase its productivity.

Organic farming is the need of the hour and farmers are leaving no stones unturned to opt this method. The organic way of farming includes techniques like crop rotation, green manure and compost. The pesticides and fertilizers used are ecological and minimum or no synthetic fertilizers are used. The market for organic farming has grown drastically and had reached $ 55 billion as in 2009. The 0.9% of the total farmland in the world is being used for organic farming i.e. 37,000,000 hectares of land.

Animal husbandry is that part of agriculture where one breeds and raises live stock. It has been practiced for ages but the modern techniques of artificial insemination and embryo transfer has given it a major boost. Machines like incubators for keeping eggs at a certain temperature and other modern farming equipments have helped the animal husbandry business. Dairy farming is a part of animal husbandry and is used to produce dairy products like milk, cheese, curd etc.

Urban agriculture includes various agricultures like animal husbandry, horticulture, agro forestry and aqua culture. Tough the main intention is to provide food and some people do it for recreation also. 800 million people are involved in this business and provide food for millions of urban dwellers.

Orchard farming involves fruits or nut producing trees grown for commercial utilization. Orchards are mostly found near bodies of water and look like beautiful gardens with an amazing line up of trees.

Keeping animals on farms is a regular practice and the farmers use animals to manage the herds and other livestock. The livestock like hen, chicks are always in danger from predators like cats or fox. Dogs are trained to keep a watch on the livestock and scare the predators away. Cat fence is installed to keep small animals out or in as required by the farmer. Sometimes bigger animals like cows or sheep move out of the field for grazing and this may cause a problem for the farmer. Fencing of the field is necessary to keep the livestock protected in the field.

With new techniques and innovative methods it has become simpler for the food producers and the new ways of farming are definitely helping to feed more people and keep the environment green.

Advantage Vertical Farming

posted in: Hemp Farming 0

It has been estimated that about eighty percent of the total population of our plant will be centralized mainly in the urban segment around 2050. Considering the present scenario and the population growth percentage we can come to a conclusion that the conventional farming process will not be sufficient to feed this enormous populace across the world. As per the present statistics and based on FAO source it can be said that excepting the inefficient management in some countries the remaining land for cultivation stands to approximately 60% of the total land. Unfortunately this will be inadequate to meet the food necessity of the increased inhabitants.

Here comes the idea of indoor farm housing. Matter of fact indoor farm or a glasshouse production is not a very new idea. We are quite aware of growing different types of herbs, shrubs and some vegetables like beans, peas and tomatoes in interior arrangement and farming. If those ideas can be implemented in broader sense, can we come to any conclusion? Yes, it is absolutely possible by the method of vertical farming. However two factors are to be taken into account that vertical farming should be efficiently constructed so that the operating becomes easier and safe. In a centrally located place of township the vertical farming house should be made in a multistoried construction. The proper implementation of the concept can produce the results like

Increase of huge production to sustain the population growth.
Variety of food production.
An all over implementation of systematic and scientific method.
Cultivation throughout the year.
Eco friendly cultivation.

The greatest advantage of the vertical farming is the certainty in cultivation of crops. Let us have a look to the yearly production and the quantity of damaged crops in different countries all over the world due to the natural calamities. Every year we loss crops in millions of tons due to flood, draught, cyclone hurricane like disasters. Mainly the developing countries are still having lot of shortcomings to fight against such calamities. Unfortunately despite of the fact that agriculture is one of the main occupations of a greater percentage of the people in those developing countries but the precautionary measure to stand against nature is still not up to the standard. The vertical farming can help us a lot to save our cultivated crops and to get the maximum output of it to stand firmly with the growing population.

US, Unlike China, Faces Drought of Common Sense on Hemp, Says Publius

posted in: Hemp Farming 0

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 30, 2012

As the devastating consequences of drought throughout the US become more apparent, authors of The Cannabis Papers: A Citizen’s Guide to Cannabinoids (2011), note the drought of common sense regarding hemp economics in the US – though not in China.

“Hempseed provides a perfect balance of fatty omega acids, as well as protein and other benefits,” said Steve Young, who worked on The Cannabis Papers as well as produced Government Grown: How Polo Illinois Helped Win The War (2009), a documentary on US hemp production during World War II. “Unfortunately, the federal government has been unwavering in its commitment to keep American hemp away from American consumers for several decades.”

Known throughout history as a source of rope, textiles and medicine, hemp also offers great nutritional value for humans and animals alike. The cultivation of hemp is banned throughout the United States.

Added Young: “Hemp prohibition is utterly insane and shows how out of step we are with the rest of the world. Many people know American farmers cannot grow hemp; hardly anyone knows China leads the world in hemp industries – and it’s a growing industry.”

Notably, a 2012 investor’s report was optimistic regarding investment in China’s hemp economies: “No one in America makes the argument that China – and not the US – should lead the way in developing hemp industries; yet the investor’s report is clear – China is developing something new – call it “Hemponomics” – that’s what the report suggests.”

Young noted allowing investors to put their money into US hemp farms would be beneficial for the American economy.

“During this year’s drought, we could have been growing hemp in places where other crops couldn’t grow. The time to pretend there is anything good from hemp prohibition has ended; maintaining that delusion is creating an economic windfall for China, and a reciprocal economic loss for America.”

Industrial Hemp and Medical Marijuana Heat Up Ballot as Election Day 2012 Nears

posted in: Hemp Legislation 0

Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 09, 2012

Amongst the activists in support of industrial hemp, Bruce Perlowin, CEO of Hemp, Inc. (OTC: HEMP), the first and only all-hemp, publicly-traded company in US history, has been relentless at arming people with the facts on hemp, in order for them to make more intelligent decisions.

Armed with knowledge, voters in Montana, Colorado, Oregon, Arkansas, Washington and Massachusetts will have the opportunity to flex their muscles and voice their drug war dissent at the ballot box. Industrial hemp bills were specifically introduced this year in Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New Mexico. More information on the 2012 state legislation can be found on the VoteHemp website. In a nutshell, a YES vote would enact the proposed law eliminating state criminal and civil penalties related to the medical use of marijuana, allowing patients meeting certain conditions to obtain marijuana produced and distributed by new state-regulated centers or, in specific hardship cases, to grow marijuana for their own use, while a NO vote would make no change in existing laws.

Former representative Tom Tancredo and Republican Michael Baumgartner (US Senate) are giving the legalization of marijuana their support. According to Reuters, Baumgartner and Tancredo “could help sway conservative voters.”

Forging a path in the industrial hemp industry, while educating consumers on the many uses of industrial hemp, Hemp, Inc. (OTC: HEMP) (http://www.hemp.com), is also producing hemp-based products proven to increase the body’s overall health and performance. The company boasts HerbaGenix™ nutraceuticals (http://www.herbagenix.com); BasicHemp (http://www.basichemp.com), their protein shakes brand; and, custom-branded MJ Lover for Him and MJ Lover for Her (http://www.mjlover.com) which is derived from a blend of organic nutrients, herbs, and vitamins including hemp extract (0.00% THC) and AFA blue-green algae which is known for its healthful effects.

Not only has the company been flooding the market with health products, its CEO, Bruce Perlowin is quite the philanthropist, according to inside sources. “Bruce Perlowin is an interesting character. Very philanthropic. His journey reminds me of the ‘Catch Me If You Can’ movie or an American bad boy gone good,” says David Tobias of Hemp, Inc. (OTC: HEMP).

Perlowin donates to Dr. Patch Adams’ of Gesundheit! Institute who is building a 50 million dollar, free children’s hospital in West Virginia. The institute is a not-for-profit health care organization chartered under the Nonprofit Corporation Act of the District of Columbia, and is a project in holistic medical care based on the belief that one cannot separate the health of the individual from the health of the family, the community, the world, and the health care system itself (see http://www.PatchAdams.org). Other efforts in his mission to change the way Americans live, by creating a more natural and sustainable environment, include the Cash Hyde Foundation Fundraiser with Tommy Chong (http://www.CashHydeFoundation.com); The CanDo Kids Project (http://www.CanDoProject.com); C Bar J Horsehaven Rescue (cbarjrescue.wetpaint.com); Spread Peace USA (http://www.facebook.com/spreadpeaceusa); and, Keepers of the Wild (http://www.KeepersOfTheWild.com).

The upcoming election is also prompting savvy investors to invest in solid, substantial companies such as Hemp, Inc. (OTC: HEMP); Rapid Fire Marketing, Inc.; Cannabis Science, Inc.; Medical Marijuana Inc.; and, Grow Life, Inc. (previously Phototron Holdings, Inc.). Two years ago, Prop 19 in California sought to legalize recreational use of marijuana. That caused a feeding frenzy for marijuana company stock from October 11 to 19, 2010. Even Health Sciences Group, that appeared to be out of business during that time, spiked 200% (from .0001 to .0002). The strongest of the companies, Hemp, Inc. (OTC: HEMP), bounced from less than one cent to 4.8 cents in that week, a spike of 473% (from .0085 to 0.487) due to the massive publicity surrounding the marijuana issue. Other spikes included Medical Marijuana, Inc. at 480% (from .02 to .1159); Rapid Fire Marketing at 50% (from .002 to .003); and, Cannabis Science, Inc. at 137% (from .092 to .218). If industrial hemp and medical marijuana are legalized, hemp stock may inevitably go through the roof.

As Colorado Faces Regional Shortages, Cannabis CEO Says Marijuana Will Eventually Be Traded like Any Other Commodity

posted in: Cannabis 0

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) May 06, 2015

Is Colorado’s legal cannabis industry the victim of its own success?

Next month the Centennial State will mark the 18-month milestone of its historic experiment with legal, recreational cannabis sales to adults. And while Colorado’s legal marijuana industry has been successful and has seen rapid growth during that time, it’s also facing some new challenges.

For example, many marijuana retailers in the state are currently facing shortages, especially in the wake of last month’s “420” cannabis celebrations. And part of the problem, according to Ryan Fox, is that much of the industry still isn’t thinking of itself as a legitimate, long-term venture.

“Some day cannabis will be traded just like every other commodity,” he says. “Just as orange crops and the futures on frozen OJ can be influenced by severe weather, the price of cannabis is susceptible to many variables as well.”

Fox is the founder and CEO of Kindman cannabis, one of the oldest and largest recreational marijuana growers and distributors in Colorado. Over the past year, he says, his organization produced nearly 20 percent of the recreational cannabis purchased in the state.

With a statewide shortage of cannabis to sale at local dispensaries, Fox has positioned Kindman to be the go-to wholesaler for resupplying the empty shelves.

“I predicted there would be a healthy demand for our more than 20 premium strains when we rolled out our wholesale operations last year,” he says, “but I’m happy to say I overestimated the number of growers that would follow our lead into the wholesale vertical.”

Fox is now in the process of doubling his grow facilities, to keep pace with the growing demand for his Kindman strains.

One major issue the industry struggles with, he believes, is the over-emphasis by dispensary owners on expanding their retail operations; and that coming up with a sustainable, long-term production and supply chain solution has been a costly oversight for some.

But Fox has avoided that issue. “We sat down to strategize and rework our business model a few years ago, in preparation of the upcoming changes we would see here in Colorado for 2014,” he recalls, “and it didn’t take long for us to identify what end of the supply chain we wanted to be on.”

Fox acknowledges that the legal marijuana industry is still in its infancy, and its once-outlaw culture hasn’t yet fully evolved and adapted to current business norms. And he says Colorado, with its well-planned, state-established regulations, is handling that transition better than any other state where recreational marijuana is currently legal.

But he also expects California, where the cannabis culture is strong and where medical marijuana is legal, will have an uphill battle if and when voters there legalize recreational cannabis.

“California is probably going to have the hardest conversion to recreational cannabis of any single state,” observes Fox.

“They have thousands of dispensaries that will most likely be out of compliance the moment those regulatory guidelines are established – and that will likely create additional economic growth due to the large number of ancillary companies formed, just to assist in solving those problems.”

About Kindman

Established in 2009, Kindman provides customers with an unmatched cannabis product – grown in Colorado state-regulated facilities at indoor locations, using a customized process that combines food-grade nutrients and a unique soil mix that brings out the plant’s best features. Close attention is paid to product cleanliness, quality, curing and processing.

Since the January 1, 2014 start of legalized sales of recreational cannabis to adults in Colorado, Kindman has provided high-quality marijuana flowers to tens of thousands of customers from over 100 countries.

Projected Mass Growth Curve on the Rise for Industrial Hemp and Medical Marijuana Stocks

posted in: Hemp Legislation 0

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) October 12, 2012

Bruce Perlowin, CEO of Hemp, Inc. (OTC: HEMP) and industrial hemp veteran, whose company led the last pre-election growth curve back in 2009 with a 480% increase (http://www.hemp.com), gave insight on when he thought the spike this month will start and why.

According to Bruce Perlowin, “Two weeks before the election is when all the action starts. We have medical marijuana on the ballot in Arkansas, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, and Ohio. You have industrial hemp on the ballot in Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New Mexico. Then they’re trying to legalize the recreational use of marijuana in Colorado, Washington and Oregon. The activist organizations (Marijuana Policy Project, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, Americans for Safe Access, NORML, Students for Sensible Drug Policy and many other groups) that run the campaigning for legalization have a very particular strategy. Predictable and extremely effective, none-the-less. They wait until 2 weeks before the election and then start a massive media campaign… an all out blitz to educate people so they can vote yes. This doesn’t allow the opposition time to respond with their negative and false propaganda. The opposition can be the prison guard union that can lose 800,000 prisoners a year who are incarcerated for marijuana. Consequently, the massive media campaigning makes people outside our industry aware of this huge industry that’s growing phenomenally. Now you have everyone looking for investment opportunities in an industry that’s soaring.”

How would the legalization of marijuana benefit the American people and the economy? Industry analysts believe there will be a creation of a new and highly profitable agricultural industry, increased trade opportunities, an increase in the gross national product (GNP), improved environmental conditions, new tax resources, and reduced costs with respect to enforcement of current laws. With all eyes on the industrial hemp and medical marijuana industry, coupled with the benefits of legalization, savvy investors are beginning to invest heavily.

Hemp, Inc.’s (OTC: HEMP) CEO, Bruce Perlowin, has accumulated over twenty-two million shares of stock in Rapid Fire Marketing, Inc.; eight hundred thousand in Cannabis Science, Inc.; two million in Grow Life, Inc.; and, twenty-one million shares in Medical Marijuana, Inc. Even though his favorite is his own (Hemp, Inc. (OTC: HEMP)) he has started strategically investing in other marijuana industry stocks. “I know these stocks are going to go through the roof,” says Perlowin.

While the average non-investor may not have a clue, market awareness surrounding the industrial hemp and medical marijuana industries is informative and can be very persuasive. When all the pre-election mass media begins in earnest, entrepreneurs and business people of all kinds want to get into the industry. Some think about opening dispensaries, growing medical marijuana, or getting paid good wages as trimmers. Everyone, from real estate investors to other hard-hit sectors of the economy, starts sleuthing the industry.

While some are courageous enough to open dispensaries and grow, most tend to play it safe and invest in marijuana stocks. Simply put, it is a mature and aged industry reality in the American marketplace. The massive publicity will not only attract the average American investor, it will also attract newbie investors (from your auto mechanic workers to your stay-at-home moms) and foreign interests. “Everybody wants in on ‘the next big thing’. Think of it as another dot.com explosion without the crash for at least another decade or two, if ever,” says Perlowin.

He adds, “The smart investor will start accumulating now before that explosion begins.”

Perlowin’s investment strategy seems to be already paying off. The two million shares he bought of Grow Life, Inc. the first ten days in October increased 39.9% on October 11, 2012 (that was the date the pre-election spike started two years ago when Prop 19 in California was on the ballot). That’s over a $ 10,000 profit from just one stock. Other analysts agree with Perlowin that it’s just the beginning of this particular company’s pre-election spike.

Overall, Perlowin and industry analysts alike are betting the growth spurt will start between October 16 and October 23, 2012 and keep rising… especially if legislation passes.

Forging a path in the industrial hemp industry, while educating consumers on the many uses of industrial hemp, Hemp, Inc. (OTC: HEMP) (http://www.hemp.com), is also producing hemp-based products proven to increase the body’s overall health and performance. Very philanthropic. His journey reminds me of the ‘Catch Me If You Can’ movie,” says David Tobias, President of Hemp, Inc. (OTC: HEMP).

Perlowin donates to Dr. Patch Adams’ of Gesundheit! Institute who is building a 50 million dollar, free children’s hospital in West Virginia. ABOUT HEMP, INC.

HEMP, Inc. (OTC:HEMP) focuses on the vast market created by the quickly emerging, and growing, multibillion dollar industrial hemp industry. HEMP, Inc. is not involved in the cultivation or marketing of medical marijuana. It is the company’s belief that legalization of hemp in all 50 states and at the federal level will come to pass. With that in mind, the company is building infrastructure with the potential to gain substantial market share before and after industrial hemp prohibition ends. (Pending any federal licensing or other requirements, that may be enacted after hemp prohibition ends).

HEMP, INC.’s TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE

Hemp, Inc. (OTC: HEMP) seeks to benefit many constituencies, not exploit or endanger any group of them. Thus, the publicly-traded company believes in “upstreaming” of a portion of profit from the marketing of their finished hemp goods back to its originator, in which most cases will be the American farmer, cultivating natural, sustainable products. By Hemp, Inc. focusing on comprehensive investment results—that is, with respect to performance along the interrelated dimensions of planet, people and profits— our triple bottom line approach can be an important tool to support sustainability goals.

CEO of Hemp, Inc., Bruce Perlowin, is positioning the company as a leader in the industrial hemp industry, with a social and environmental mission at its core. In fact, he wanted to, consciously, found a business with non-financial goals that weren’t an after-thought, but were part of its DNA. For example, a percentage of proceeds of the hemp.com products are donated to PatchAdams; Kin’s Domain (http://www.kinsdomain.us) which uses natural, organic, sustainably harvested, renewable, pure raw materials; and, an overall use of renewable energy sources.

National Marijuana Business Conference 2012 to Host Dixie Elixirs President Tripp Keber

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 03, 2012

The Mile High City will play host to the National Marijuana Business Conference 2012 next week. John Malanca, owner of the medical marijuana resource website UnitedPatientsGroup.com, says “Colorado’s medical marijuana community is a model for the national cannabis industry and movement as well as the perfect location to host the industry’s premier conference.”

National Marijuana Business Conference 2012 will feature over 40 speakers on burning topics ranging from the latest innovations and consumer trends to the likely impact of the national elections and how the medical marijuana community can affect changes in policy and legislation.

More than 200 cannabis business professionals from 18 states are expected to participate in the conference, including Tripp Keber, CEO of Red Dice Holdings, president of Medical Marijuana Inc.’s manufacturing division, and managing director of Dixie Elixirs & Edibles, which makes THC-infused medications, and Dixie X, which produces over the counter hemp oil wellness products.

Keber will lead a session titled “Infused Product Manufacturers: How to Flourish in 2013” on Thursday November 8, at 3:30 pm. He will then share his thoughts on the hottest developments in medical marijuana products and industry technology as part of an expert forum panel on Friday, November 9, at 1:30 pm.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from Tripp Keber and other medical marijuana industry thought leaders from around the nation,” said Malanca. “Medical patients—especially those suffering from chronic pain—need all-natural alternatives to dangerous pharmaceuticals like opiates, which are highly addictive and increasingly fatal with rising incidents of overdose. These are the people who are making things happen.”

Keber is a long-time cannabis activist and industry supporter. He is a founding member of the National Cannabis Industry Association and currently sits on the Colorado Medical Marijuana Industry Group Advisory Board.

“The marijuana business community is full of responsible leaders and caregivers who want to make real change in the world,” said Keber. “I am proud to be a member of this noble group and grateful for the opportunity to speak at the conference.”

Adjacent to the conference, the National Cannabis Industry Association will host its 2nd Anniversary Gala on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 6 to 10 pm, beginning with a happy hour from 6 to 7 pm. Stand-alone advance tickets are available from NCIA at http://www.cannabisindustrygala.org, and limited tickets will be available at the door. Each ticket entitles the bearer to one drink, elegant Moroccan appetizers, and a unique gift.
