Next towater it is the most abundant body inthe vegetable world. All plants and all parts of all plantscontain cellulose, but it is relatively mostabundant in their stems and leaves. Inseeds it forms a large portion of the husk, shell, or other outer coating, but in theinterior of the seed it exists in smallquantity. Reefer Madness/The Burning Question (1936)
Cannabis Science
Although produced as a serious anti-drug exploitation film, Reefer Madness became a cult comedy hit during the late 1960s and 1970s. It was one of the earliest hits during the golden age of the "midnight movie" in which theaters, especially those near colleges, would run the film at special screenings late at night during weekends.

Trivia

If you still frame the newspaper which flashes on screen just before the verdict is announced at the end of the film, underneath the headline is another front-page news story which bears the smaller headline: "DICK TRACY, G-MAN, IN SENSATIONAL RAID".

The movie theater marquee reading "Terry Rooney in ‘Any Old Love’", is a standing set from the picture Something to Sing About (1937).

Dwain Esper unsuccessfully sued a distribution company in the 1960s over the film rights, claiming that he had produced the film for the U.S. Army, and that he was the legal copyright owner. However, he was unable to support his claims, and lost the case.

Stars Dorothy Short (Mary) and Dave O’Brien (Ralph) were married the year this film was released (1936).

A special-edition DVD of the film was released in 2004, with an outrageously non-realistic colorization (the various characters who smoke all exhale brightly colored pastel smoke) and a satirical commentary track by Michael J. Nelson of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" (1988).

Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005) won a bunch of awards and was nominated for many more. It won an Emmy in 2005 for Outstanding Music and Lyrics for the song: "Mary Jane/Mary Lane". It was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography and nominated for another for Outstanding Makeup for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special (Non-Prosthetic). Also in 2005, it won a Satellite Award for Outstanding Actress in a Miniseries or a Motion Picture Made for Television (Kristen Bell ) and another for Outstanding Motion Picture Made for Television. It was nominated for a Satellite Award for Outstanding Actor in a Miniseries or a Motion Picture Made for Television (Christian Campbell). In 2006 it was nominated for a Golden Reel Award for Best Sound Editing in Television Long Form – Dialogue and Automated Dialogue Replacement. Also in 2006, it was nominated for the ASC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Movies of the Week/Mini-Series’/Pilot. It was nominated in 2006 for an Eddie for Best Edited Miniseries or Motion Picture for Non-Commercial Television.

In Colorado, the State Senate last week voted to concur with the House on SB13-241, the Hemp Freedom Act. If the bill becomes law, Colorado will nullify unconstitutional federal laws and regulations which ban farmers from growing hemp. Currently, the United States is the world’s largest importer of Hemp (with China and Canada the top two exporters in the world), and the Colorado legislature wants their citizens to be allowed to participate and profit in this market.

The federal government has no constitutional authority to ban the production of this industrial plant, but has persisted in preventing its domestic production. The result? Products with hemp that are readily available at your local grocery store must be imported from another country — resulting in higher costs for you and fewer farming jobs in America.

The United States is the only developed nation that fails to cultivate industrial hemp as an economic crop, according to the Congressional Resource Service. Recent congressional research indicates that the hemp market consists of over 25,000 various products. The same research found that America imports over 0 million worth of hemp from other countries. At this time of economic difficulty, 13-241 would not only expand freedom and support the Constitution, it would also be a great jobs bill. It now goes to the Governor’s desk for a signature

In Missouri, the State House voted to send Governor Jay Nixon what could arguably be the strongest defense against federal gun control measures in American history. The vote was 116-38. HB436, introduced by Representative Doug Funderburk in February, was initially passed by the House in April by a vote of 115-42. The State Senate approved the bill with an amendment which did not change any of its nullification aspects. The vote there was 26-6. The bill then needed one final vote in the house which happened late last week.

The votes in both the House and Senate are by a strong veto-proof majority. Governor Jay Nixon can sign the bill into law, let it become law without signing or have his veto overridden by the legislature. In all three situations, the bill would become law by July 1st, 2013.

As law, HB436 would nullify virtually every federal gun control measure on the books — or planned for the future. It reads, in part:

In this episode of Missouri Legislative Update the General Assembly overrides the governor’s veto of Senate Bills 509 & 496, legislation designed to cut taxes for individuals and small businesses. Lawmakers also finalize Missouri’s operating budget for Fiscal Year 2015 and pass a measure allowing families to use hemp oil as a means to treat epilepsy.
