As Colorado Faces Regional Shortages, Cannabis CEO Says Marijuana Will Eventually Be Traded like Any Other Commodity

posted in: Cannabis 0

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) May 06, 2015

Is Colorado’s legal cannabis industry the victim of its own success?

Next month the Centennial State will mark the 18-month milestone of its historic experiment with legal, recreational cannabis sales to adults. And while Colorado’s legal marijuana industry has been successful and has seen rapid growth during that time, it’s also facing some new challenges.

For example, many marijuana retailers in the state are currently facing shortages, especially in the wake of last month’s “420” cannabis celebrations. And part of the problem, according to Ryan Fox, is that much of the industry still isn’t thinking of itself as a legitimate, long-term venture.

“Some day cannabis will be traded just like every other commodity,” he says. “Just as orange crops and the futures on frozen OJ can be influenced by severe weather, the price of cannabis is susceptible to many variables as well.”

Fox is the founder and CEO of Kindman cannabis, one of the oldest and largest recreational marijuana growers and distributors in Colorado. Over the past year, he says, his organization produced nearly 20 percent of the recreational cannabis purchased in the state.

With a statewide shortage of cannabis to sale at local dispensaries, Fox has positioned Kindman to be the go-to wholesaler for resupplying the empty shelves.

“I predicted there would be a healthy demand for our more than 20 premium strains when we rolled out our wholesale operations last year,” he says, “but I’m happy to say I overestimated the number of growers that would follow our lead into the wholesale vertical.”

Fox is now in the process of doubling his grow facilities, to keep pace with the growing demand for his Kindman strains.

One major issue the industry struggles with, he believes, is the over-emphasis by dispensary owners on expanding their retail operations; and that coming up with a sustainable, long-term production and supply chain solution has been a costly oversight for some.

But Fox has avoided that issue. “We sat down to strategize and rework our business model a few years ago, in preparation of the upcoming changes we would see here in Colorado for 2014,” he recalls, “and it didn’t take long for us to identify what end of the supply chain we wanted to be on.”

Fox acknowledges that the legal marijuana industry is still in its infancy, and its once-outlaw culture hasn’t yet fully evolved and adapted to current business norms. And he says Colorado, with its well-planned, state-established regulations, is handling that transition better than any other state where recreational marijuana is currently legal.

But he also expects California, where the cannabis culture is strong and where medical marijuana is legal, will have an uphill battle if and when voters there legalize recreational cannabis.

“California is probably going to have the hardest conversion to recreational cannabis of any single state,” observes Fox.

“They have thousands of dispensaries that will most likely be out of compliance the moment those regulatory guidelines are established – and that will likely create additional economic growth due to the large number of ancillary companies formed, just to assist in solving those problems.”

About Kindman

Houses.com Finds Increased Website Interest in Medical Cannabis Lenient States

posted in: Hemp Legislation 0

Miami, Florida (PRWEB) December 19, 2012

As the dust settles in the weeks following the Presidential Election, Americans are returning to life as usual. Gone are the political ads, debates and polls and most citizens are thankful to that end. However, the leading real estate website, Houses.com is detecting a small yet increasing trend under current in the ocean of politics. There is an amplified interest in the states where medical marijuana can be used without criminal consequences.

The voters in the states of Washington and Colorado have gone a step further and given their blessing to the recreational use of marijuana. Many other states have passed similar legislation that downgrade possession of the drug to the equivalent of running a stop sign. Each state will have different ordinances as to how much you can carry without the fear of facing a judge but, that aside there is a growing trend to legalize the use of medical marijuana in the United States.

The infographic illustrates (in green) the states that have legalized or passed laws allowing either the medical or recreational use of the plant. One eye opener was the increased number of homes for sale searches in New York and Maryland on Houses.com. Several states saw increases in the single digits; the searches in the tiny state of Maryland swelled to a full 14% and a whopping 22% in New York.

There are no hard and fast demographics for these online queries but when most people look for a home they generally have a stable income and the financial means to make the move. Widely distributed studies would lead most to believe it is the teenagers and the early 20s network that use marijuana. For more information, see the recent study by the American Medical Association: http://www.druglibrary.org/Schaffer/hemp/medical/block.htm. Nevertheless, those age groups by and large, don’t have access to the cash reserves needed to make major purchases like a home.

Although the increased traffic is by no means immense yet, the percentages of increases were enough to catch more than a few eyes. Founder and CEO of Houses.com, Richard Swerdlow commented on the recent findings, “The U.S. is traditionally conservative and cautious about the use of marijuana. Looking at the traffic by state breakdown paired with recent legislation on the drug suggests that citizens may want to see that changed.”

The inforgraphic clearly illustrates that the plain states, the Southeastern Seaboard and Southern states, are more conservative in their approaches to marijuana. Many citizens who are in favor of these relaxed measures are predicting it is just a matter of time before all states have some kind of legal verbiage for marijuana and its use.

For more in depth information on this subject read the full article here: http://www.houses.com/Learn/HousingNews/Marijuana-Tolerant-States-Attract-Homebuyers-to-Houses.com. Realtors in these 20+ states may want to keep their eyes on the marijuana legislation in their vicinity. Denver-based Cannabis Dispensary Becomes Party-Central for Both Visitors and Residents Celebrating the Marijuana Cultures 420 Festivities

posted in: Cannabis 0

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) April 22, 2015

It was a non-stop and jubilant 420 weekend at The Grass Station. As one of Colorado’s oldest and largest recreational marijuana dispensaries, the store was host, teacher and cheerleader for the crowds of cannabis newcomers and aficionados looking to celebrate what has evolved into an annual, national celebration of the marijuana culture.

“I couldn’t be happier with how well our customers were taken care of,” said Grass Station founder and CEO Ryan Fox. “Our staff did an amazing job, as we serviced around 500 people each day from Friday through Monday.”

The dispensary successfully anticipated the high volume of 420 traffic by having as many as ten checkout stations available to its customers. That not only allowed Grass Station staff more time to ensure store patrons made it out to their 420 events on schedule, but also that customers were happy with their purchases.

And along with its critically-acclaimed selection of marijuana strains, as well as a wide spectrum of edibles, vape products and apparel, many customers took advantage of The Grass Station’s ongoing policy of accepting all of the local competition’s discount coupons.

2014 was the first year of legal recreational marijuana sales to adults in Colorado, and the growing national acceptance of cannabis also meant more online chatter about 420-related events this year.

As an example of that growing market, The Grass Station’s online advertising campaign had over 300,000 views during the just-concluded 420 Weekend, compared to 110,000 during the same time period last year.

Fox said all those efforts, combined with Colorado’s blustery springtime weather that moved a lot of activities indoors, resulted in Grass Station visitors ringing up more higher-priced purchase totals this year, compared to 2014.

But most importantly, Grass Station customers finished up 420 with good memories of the event and the dispensary.

“These guys are the greatest when it comes taking care of your needs,” Chris G. from Oklahoma wrote about his time at The Grass Station. “They took great care of us. We spent 420 in Denver and stopped by there every day we were in town. And will continue to do so.”

ABOUT THE GRASS STATION

Denver’s premier recreational dispensary first opened its doors in 2009, and over the years has maintained its widespread reputation as the source for top-quality cannabis, served up in a welcoming atmosphere. Customers expect and get friendly and knowledgeable service from The Grass Station’s staff. Its quality-tested products not only conform to state and local regulations but are kept to the highest possible standards of purity and potency.

Colorados Leading Cannabis Business Experts, Clover Leaf Consulting Hosted A64 Only Cannabis Video Symposium Series Third Event Thursday January 17th 2013.

posted in: Hemp Legislation 0

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) January 19, 2013

On November 6th, Colorado passed Amendment 64 being the first U.S. state to regulate recreational cannabis in history. The passing of Amendment 64 has raised hopes of expanding marijuana business opportunities and tax revenues. In fact, the first forty million dollars annually will go to fund education. This historic event has generated excitement across the country, but also holds many questions on the implementation of a substance transitioning out of prohibition. This has a direct impact on current and future cannabis business owners.

The Cannabis Industry’s projected value is between $ 3 – $ 4 billion with an influx of “Ganjapreneurs” and investors seeking to capitalize on this major opportunity. Due to the fact that it is a black market legitimizing itself out of prohibition, the industry’s growth could be exponential with the passing of national legalization and implementation in the coming years. This does not take into account the ample business opportunities being developed for industrial hemp. “Colorado’s Cannabis Community has not only helped educate patients and validate the efficacy of medical cannabis, but it also created and stabilized a medical cannabis business model as well,” says Villano. “I believe HB1284 & Amendment 64 will eventually find common ground for regulation, offering tremendous business opportunities, investments, educational programs, job training and generate large economic stimulation in Colorado.”

The A64 Symposium will be highlighted into two segments.

“THC DUI” 7:00-7:45 pm

Since Colorado’s historic vote to legalize the regulation of recreational cannabis we have been unsure of the repercussions that would come from first time system errors, and miseducation for our leaders. We have fought this unreasonable bill tooth and nail and guess what…its back. Join Clover Leaf’s CEO Chloe Villano along with Mike Elliott, Esq., Sean McAllister Esq., Anne Toney P.C., Professor Daniel Rees, and The Colorado Department of Transportation as we discuss the THC DUI.

“Regulated Rules Task Force Update” 8:10 pm – 9:00 pm

The “Rule making” Govoner’s Task Force has been meeting all week long. We have been uncertain of our transitioning process as we expand the Cannabis Industry in Colorado, open more businesses, and make changes to our existing systems and procedures. What can we expect? What can we do? Join Clover Leaf’s Chloe Villano, along with our diverse panel of experts from the leading industry groups as we discuss the task force update and first draft development of the rule making process for Colorado’s regulated marijuana laws. Speakers include Bob Dill, Warren Edson, Robert Corry Jr, Meg Sanders, and Mike Elliott.

With the current legislative rules in flux, its important to get all the latest facts, figures as well as network with fellow industry professionals. Therefore Cloverleaf Consulting has provided the Industry manditory Information by hosting the following Amendment 64 Cannabis Business Symposium event series. This is the third event in the series. Clover Leaf will hold the Cannabis Business Symposiums the third thursday of every month at Casselmans. Future Symposium dates include: February 21, March 21, April 18, May 23, and June 20, 2013.

National Access Cannabis Appoints Former Health Canada Medical Marijuana Manager, Gulwant Bajwa, as CEO

posted in: Cannabis 0

Ottawa, ON (PRWEB) April 22, 2015

National Access Cannabis today announced the appointment of Gulwant Bajwa as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Bajwa brings unparalleled industry knowledge to NAC after serving in multiple senior leadership positions in Health Canada’s Medical Marijuana Program.

Bajwa understands how the system works at every level; from compliance and enforcement (for Health Canada’s previous MMAR program) to production and supply, to establishing processes for packaging and testing of marijuana for medical and research purposes. His background makes him a firm believer in Medical Marijuana’s positive impact on patients.

“As a 29 year old in 1992 I fought cancer and experienced the horrible side effects of prescribed morphine pain medications. I couldn’t move or even communicate,” says Bajwa. “That grim time in my life convinced me that there had to be a better way,” he explains. “I know firsthand how hard it is to get effective treatment.”

During his time at Health Canada he began his serious investigation on the efficacy of cannabis by speaking with patients using medical marijuana as part of their treatment.

“I heard dozens of powerful accounts from patients who reported that they could finally sleep again – medical cannabis was the only thing that gave them the pain relief they needed,” says Bajwa. “A big plus that many shared with me was the absence of debilitating side effects.”

“Leading the NAC team I know that I will make a difference in the lives of patients going through what I suffered during my cancer fight,” he adds. “NAC is the ideal model to help Canadians understand how to get safe, informed and responsible access to the benefits of medical marijuana.”

NAC provides education on how Health Canada’s medical marijuana system works. Members are connected with a physician for a medical assessment and NAC assists with selecting a Licensed Producer and submitting the required Health Canada medical documents.

Members also receive pharmacist consultations and ongoing guidance on responsible use while NAC pharmacy software monitors safe usage. In addition, NAC members receive the National Access Cannabis Card, a secure medical marijuana card developed in consultation with law enforcement to assure police that patients are authorized to use medical marijuana.

For more information on Gulwant Bajwa see his full bio here.

To learn more about NAC visit NationalAccessCannabis.com. NAC can also be found on its social channels on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

About National Access Cannabis (NAC)

NAC is devoted to improving patients’ quality of life by creating local care centres across Canada. NAC facilitates safe access to medical marijuana within the laws and guidelines of Health Canada by connecting our members with physicians, providing pharmacist consultations and pharmacy software to monitor safe usage, and giving members a medical marijuana card for proof of compliance for law enforcement.
